Ponz

I was working the Circ Desk (remember I am not in Children's anymore, hence the lack of cute kid stuff) when I noticed a five year old boy with a stuff green frog.

Me: Is that Kermit? (When the boy turned my way, I saw that the frog was not Kermit. It was still an equally cute frog none the less)

Boy: No, this is Ponz,

Me: Hi, Ponz

Boy: He has a brown stain on his butt. Its not chocolate. Its probably poop. Ponz needed to poop. *giggle*

Ice Cream!

2 year old boy: Mom, can we get ice cream now?
Mom: Why do you think you are getting ice cream?
Boy: Cause I asked nicely

Soooo many books....

Dad comes into the Adult Department, carrying his 3 year old son....

Boy (in awe): sooo many books.... (looks around some more).....sooo many books.


*Its moments like this one that make me glad that I'm a librarian*

Lack of updates...

If you have noticed there has been a dwindling number of updates as of late.....AND there is a reason for that. I am now in the adult world. I recently took a job at another library in their Reference and Nonfiction department. I have very little contact with kids now, which I do miss to a certain extent. I will still post time to time if I hear something, or remember a little funny tidbit. Feel free to check out my other blog, Confessions of a Librarian in Training

Cell Phones in the Library....

Dad starts texting on his cell phone when he is stopped by the library monitor (aka his son)

Son (about 6): NO CELL PHONES IN THE LIBRARY.... (as he points to our No Talking On Your Cell Phone Sign)

Dad (to us): He is very big on rules....

Paying for DVDs....

Girl (4 or 5 years old): I want to pay for my movies...

Little girl then hands me a card...

Me: You want to pay for your movies with a Panera Bread Gift Card?

Girl: Yes

Me: The movies are free sweetie. You don't have to pay for them.

Girl: Ok, thank you. *Takes the card back and picks out more movies*

Lion King

Me: Hi!
L (3 year old girl): the daddy die
Me: What?!?
L's Grandmother: No No No, Simba's daddy died....Lion King

Do fish sleep...

Side Note: This girl asked a million questions on this particular day..this was one I got.

Girl (about 9 or so): Do fish sleep?
Me: Well, lets find out. (I don't get too many reference questions in the Children's Department so I was stoked to put my skills to use - After a quick search this is what I found): Well, technically fish do not sleep but they have periods of rest where they conserve energy (or something scientific along those lines)
Girl: Well that makes sense since they don't have eyelashes.
